Bologna –
These are the statements of coach Giampiero Ticchi after the game: “We know that they are an aggressive team with D’Alie being their leader. At the beginning we were not able to put them in trouble because they played with intensity, while we did not put perhaps the necessary conviction. Once we were able to play more simply, without pressure and doing simple things the results were seen, limiting offensive rebounds by increasing defensive intensity creating the first break.
Defense? It was the key to close the game and it will be the key to close the series as well and try to be clear on offense because their defense forces you to take risks and fouls your passing lines so you have to turn the ball over faster.
The crowd? Having a spectator frame like this, incredible, with so many people makes you appreciate the game even more and gives you that extra something. We hope to have more and more people present to see us in the next games.”
Iliana Rupert, MVP of the match also commented on her own performance: “I am very happy because we wanted this win as a team, despite some difficulties in the first half, but then we stepped up and managed to win. In Game 2 we will try to replicate the game we played today, putting the same intensity and aggressiveness by limiting the mistakes we made as much as possible.
My season high? I think it’s a group victory, also thanks to the fans who supported and cheered us on.”
