Virtus Pallacanestro is one of the great clubs of Italian basketball. Its trophy case shines with 16 Italian titles, 8 Italian Cups and 4 Super Cups, and in the international field it has triumphed in two editions of the Euroleague, in 1998 and 2001, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1990, the Eurochallenge in 2009, the Basketball Champions League 2019 and the EuroCup in 2022. From season 19/20 to season 23/24 Virtus Segafredo Bologna also participated in the top national and European competitions in women’s basketball, winning the first trophy in its history in September 2023, the Italian Super Cup.
Of particular note is the club’s youth sector, born from a far-sighted idea of lawyer Gigi Porelli and developed over the years, which has brought the club 22 Italian titles in the various youth categories, as well as having given Italian and international basketball many talents who grew up in the “cantera” bianconera.
