On 6 July 2012, the Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna company was acquired by the Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna Foundation, which was created on 8 June 2012 with a single goal: to protect and maintain a valuable sporting and cultural heritage for Bologna and its territory. The President of the Virtus Foundation is currently Daniele Fornaciari, elected on 4 April 4 2017.
