Coach Banchi spoke in a press conference after the game with Milano: “There is bitterness for the epilogue of a game that for long stretches we hoped to win. We had a personality approach to the game and in spite of the little time to recover we managed to put all that energy and determination that will have to accompany us in such a long and so hard season. It is good to see this desire on the part of the team to want to compete while trying to combat the evidence of gaps related to a roster that is still far from the structure we hope it will have. We played against an opponent in great form who returned from the locker room with the ferocity to want to change the inertia of the game by imposing their physicality; we were able to respond blow by blow and found a fourth period of substance, but not always combined with the lucidity we would have needed to bring home the victory. As said, there is regret. There were some episodes that clearly turned out to be decisive: Milan’s supremacy in rebounding, their precision in the top moments of the game and some of our mistakes, which were also the result of fatigue that inevitably surfaces when you have to expend so much energy to stand up to such an exuberant opponent. Tonight I saw a version of Virtus that has nothing to fear, so from tomorrow we get to work, try to raise the quality of our game and look for the continuity we need to produce high-level games in such a busy schedule. This unfortunately is an epilogue that does not do justice to the game we played, but the opponents were good at resurfacing, finding precision and lucidity to bring it home.”
