Bologna –
Having successfully passed with flying colors the Eurocup competition, closed with 16.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and included in the best quintet of the competition, Matthew Garnell Morgan lands upstairs for a new challenge that, if won, could change the fate of the Concord-born point guard and that of Virtus.
His 188 cm will not be asked to climb a wall of ice with his bare hands but to replicate what he has already shown he can do: attack the iron with dynamism and speed, talk well with the longs without necessarily going through the pick and roll, and complete a midcourt where other department mates can perhaps offer more defense and shots.
Class of 97, since 2021 around Europe between Turkey, France and England, Morgan is today the classic combo-guard capable of building his shot in all situations, from the dribble, with his feet in place, from personal solution or created by the team. Accelerating as well in transition, despite not very long levers, he can cover the court in very few dribbles, thanks to proverbial change of pace.
In recent seasons he has improved his playmaking, especially in terms of reads and responsiveness.
