Bologna, July 13th –
Following the decisions of the FIBA board, Virtus Segafredo Bologna announces its participation in the regular season of FIBA EuroLeague Women for the 2023/2024 season.
Sabrina Cinili, club manager of the team, commented on the news with great enthusiasm: “The confirmation of participation in the Euroleague Women for the second consecutive year certifies the progressive adjustment of Virtus Segafredo Bologna Women in the European basketball scenario and the ongoing commitment of the club regarding the women’s team, which started only a few years ago. After last season’s debut, the goal is to do better by relying on the greater experience that our players have accumulated, on a consolidated team group and on a charismatic coach.”
The teams that have obtained direct access to the regular season of the top European competition are 13, which automatically qualified on the basis of criteria that take into consideration the position of the nation in the European federation ranking. The remaining 3 places will be awarded through 3 qualifying tournaments consisting of 2 teams each and only the winner of each group will receive the pass for the regular season.
The draw for the division of teams in the two regular season groups and qualifying tournaments will be held in Munich, Germany on August 9.
