Virtus Segafredo Bologna announces that it has signed an agreement with Coach Miguel Mendez.
“I am very happy to become part of a Club like Virtus Segafredo Bologna – the Coach’s first words in black and white – a Club of historical importance. I am excited and I will do my best, working every day to deserve this opportunity. I consider it an important step forward in my sports career” – closes Mendez.
Born in Vigo on March 2, 1967, the first 10 years of his career were set in Spain: in fact, from 2001 to 2011 he coached Celta de Vigo, and then remained always on Iberian soil for the next two seasons, on the Rivas Ecopolis bench. In the 12 Spanish years he won a Championship and two Spanish Cups.
From 2013 began his experience in Italy: until 2017 he led the bench of Schio, where he won the Italian Championship three times, the Italian Cup twice and the Italian Supercup four times.
After three seasons in our country the move to Yekaterinburg, Russia. Many successes in his Russian experience: in fact, Mendez won the national title twice, the Euroleague three times, two European Super Cups, a Russian Supercup and a Russian Cup.
Since last season, the new Virtussino head coach has also taken over the Spanish women’s national team.
