LBF, Round 10 | Coach Ticchi’s post-match: “We lacked lucidity in crucial moments, but we didn’t give up”

Ragusa –

At the end of the game against Passalacqua Ragusa, coach Giampiero Ticchi commented on his team’s performance in the press conference: “It was definitely a hard-fought game with both teams giving a lot of intensity on court. We knew that Ragusa wanted this win badly because it had never won at home and the arrival of a coach led the girls to react in the best possible way, so I can only congratulate them on their performance. We perhaps lacked lucidity in the first half, in stopping their most dangerous players, while in attack we showed too much haste even though Ragusa defended really well. In the second half we reacted and managed to close the gap, but perhaps a little tiredness prevented us from making the play that could have changed the game.

The injuries? They are part of the season, so you carry on and move on. Now there will be three more tough away games, Athens, Campobasso and the trip to Hungary. Although we made some mistakes, today my girls gave the best they could and I am proud of them.”

Captain Sabrina Cinili also commented on the match: “The absences weighed heavily, but Ragusa showed what kind of team it was because it had a hiccup start to the championship and they were not able to express their full potential, which they had glimpsed against Faenza. Our shortcomings weighed, but we lacked the aggressiveness that we sometimes lack both in the championship and in the Euroleague. We have to accept contacts and use them to improve and progress as a team. I think our way of playing can improve and these three away games ahead of us can give us a chance to reflect and start even better.”
