LBF, Round 4 | Coach Vincent and Haley Peters’ words after the win against Faenza

Bologna –

At the end of the game against e-work Faenza, valid for the Round 4 of Techfind Serie A1, these are the words of coach Vincent: “It was a tough game after the game against Salamanca adapting to a different game is always a problem we have to solve. We took it badly on offense because we have a fast offensive and shooting team, however they are faster than us. When you don’t score you give the opponent a chance to counterattack and make easy baskets, it took us some time to adapt especially in the first part of the game, after that it was much better. They have nothing to lose, when you let a team go into a game like that afterwards it is difficult to come back, we did it well and I am happy with that. We were able to figure out how to adapt defensively on their qualities and options, control the transition between offense and defense, that was the main topic: figure out how to put the ball in, don’t shoot so fast because afterwards we struggle to come back. The game against Villeneuve d’Ascq will be tough, they are physically tough and it will be totally different. Our quality will have to be to adapt, because they play less fast, with less mobility and more strength, a lot more post up, the exact opposite. We are happy because so far we have not lost and we are very happy about that, but we are aware that it will always be difficult. Never underestimate the opponent, never overestimate them but always adapt. Today we struggled, when teams are better and you take too long to adapt you struggle to come back. It’s really important to adapt.”

Haley Peters also stopped at the mixed zone microphones, “It was a tough game for us, they were really quick in transition and ran a lot, I don’t think we were mentally ready for that early in the game. We were able to come back later and I think there is a lot to learn from this game. It was a good week for us, the win against Salamanca was a very good team win against a great opponent. Today was more complicated but we will need it to understand what to work on to improve. The next game against Villeneuve d’Ascq will be difficult, against a good team, with a great atmosphere in the arena and from the fans. We will have to be ready, they haven’t won any games yet in but it will be a very physical match and from tomorrow we will start working to prepare.”
