Bologna –
Not even time to review the mistakes of the match against Schio, that for Virtus is already time to go back on the court with a view to the Emilia derby against E-Work Faenza. On paper, Tassinari and her teammates have the favor of the ranking that sees Faenza relegated to the last positions in the fight not to go back to the relegation, even if some good performances, such as the victory over Empoli in the direct match, have certainly improved the ranking and the morale.
Thanks to the 62.8 points scored per game, Faenza is the best scoring team in the tail group, but the 75.1 points conceded represent a burden that is anything but light to bear. A very happy note in this season for E-Work is certainly Jori Davis who, with her performance, 18 games played so far with 31.4 minutes of average, 12.1 and 2.6 assists on average, has proved to be a firm foothold in many delicate occasions. Kunaiyi-Akpanah is the reference point for her teammates inside the area, a young center who is not as vertical as she is dynamic and fast at her first experience in Italy. She is profitable in terms of numbers, with 10.1 points and 14.6 rebounds on average, an excellent double double, proving to be by far the most useful player on the roster. The first of the Italians is Cupido who, from the control room, manages the operations, without disdaining some assault on the basket as evidenced by the 10.1 average, in 27.1 minutes on the floor. As said, the team is not very gifted from a physical point of view (not many centimeters and kilos under the basket) but it makes its main weapon, agonism and high rhythms. Even in the count of the victories: 2 home and 2 away, it doesn’t find in the home field the fortress on which to base its salvation. In the first round, a wide victory (43-77) was recorded by Virtus at Pala Bubani.
