Lucca, Jan. 29 –
These are the statements of assistant coach Jordan Losi in the postgame between Gesam Lucca and Virtus Segafredo:
“We approached the game well, even if we suffered at the beginning: when we managed to loosen up, we were able to run in the open court and exploit all our potential. It is not always easy to start off strong in the best way, but you have to have the ability to resist and stay in the game.
Scudetto? I think play offs to a best-of-three series could reveal many pitfalls. Campobasso, Geas and Sassari can also do well. Obviously the strength of Venezia and Schio is currently superior, but I would not rule out the others regardless.
For me to be able to work with professionals, on the bench and on the court, of this caliber is a reason for me to grow, and I am very grateful to the club for their trust.”
Beatrice del Pero, scorer of 14 points, also spoke to the microphones in the postgame:
“It is never easy to play on a court like Lucca, we knew that their start would be very strong right away and we were good then to stay in the game, tighten our defense and then come out in the second quarter where the game was eventually decided. On offense we have a lot of talent so when we can defend on the offensive end everything becomes easier.
Euroleague? It’s a competition that gives you so much and for any player it’s a blessing. We are sorry for how it went, but from that we get a lot of lessons that we can then use in the Italian Cup in a little while and then in the play-offs: we will try to bring the intensity and physicality we learned in Europe to do the best we can.
For the Scudetto I think there are many teams that can aspire to get to the final, although we obviously aspire to get there.”
