Coach Banchi spoke in a press conference after the win with Trento: “A game that we were able to interpret, I congratulate the team for how it prepared for these last Regular Season appointments, at the end of a wearing season but producing good basketball. Tonight we were facing an opponent conditioned by absences but not devoid of potential: we channeled the game well from the beginning, so I applaud the team for consolidating a first place in a season marked by competitions of very high physical, competitive and technical content. We archive with satisfaction but now our gaze is already turned to the playoffs. Now there are more human rhythms of course, more normal: we managed to combine time to recover and work to try to align everyone’s condition. Our last 8 regular season games we only played against playoff teams: it was a season finale that, even with the Euroleague in between, allowed us to finish first. This first place is the result of wins in Brescia, wins in Venice, sometimes even after a double Euroleague round, not bad. The only flaw was with Pistoia, I hope that even that can have served as a lesson for us: now the team has to keep pushing and generating improvements, also because in the playoffs we will start playing at a high pace again. I close by sending from me and the team, as the club has already done, condolences for the passing of Corrado Pellanera, one of the people who allowed this club, the Virtus brand and this jersey to become one of the best in Europe. I also add good luck to our player Matteo Baiocchi, who a few days ago was on the first team but unfortunately suffered an injury that will keep him off the court for a while: we wish him all the best of luck to come back stronger than before, we expect him soon in the gym.”
