Bologna, Nov. 24 –
Lega Basket Serie A and the Women’s Basketball League, in agreement with FIP, join forces on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a series of initiatives scheduled in next weekend’s competitions.
On the LBA courts, after the presentation of the teams, the two captains and one of the 3 referees will stand at midfield to read a message strongly condemning all types of violence against women, confirming basketball’s willingness to endorse and support any initiative that can raise awareness, educate young people and help eliminate it. Immediately afterwards, a minute’s silence will be observed for the victims of feminicide, followed by the national anthem.
As the captains read the message and during the minute of remembrance, all host clubs will display on their LEDs at the sidelines a specific unified message .
Also on the LBF courts, after the presentation of the teams, the two captains will read a message followed by the minute of mourning and the playing of the anthem; then, before the two-ball, the teams will line up hugging each other at midcourt. Red shoes will then be placed near each basket and on the change cubes, which, with their strong evocative power, represent the symbol of the “fight” against abuse and feminicide in different countries around the world.
