At the end of the last practice before the game against Mersin, valid for round 5 of the EuroLeague Women regular season, these are the words of coach Vincent: “Mersin played the EuroLeague Women final last year, they built a team to win the Turkish championship and get to the Final Four and try to win. It’s definitely going to be a big challenge for us, we are a little bit struggling but paradoxically we are more struggling against teams that have a different profile, with EuroLeague teams that have a much cleaner game we are more comfortable to develop our work. The difficulty for them is that they have two girls who make the difference on their own, Mabrey, who you know well here, and Iagupova, a couple of centers who are rebounders and defenders, Williams and Hollingsworth, and next to them players who shoot very well from three. It’s pretty easy to figure out what they’re going to do, but hard to figure out what to do, we’re going to have to try to reduce the percentages of the two stars, their ability to score points and their ability to give easy points to the others. Yesterday we worked on the offensive aspect while today we focused on defense, especially on Mabrey, the team knows her well but she still scored 37 points against us. We hope to make her play a game like the one she played here, making a lot of mistakes, rather than the one she played in Schio.”
