At the end of the match against Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca, valid for the 3rd day of the EuroLeague Women regular season, these were the words of coach Vincent: “We are happy, there were a lot of emotions in this match. We struggled a bit, also psychologically, when the opponents made shots like tonight we waited and let their offense get into position. It is important to recover psychologically, we have to improve in that. Sometimes it happens that there are major defensive mistakes, but if we take the game as a whole we did very well, we have to manage a couple of girls who are more attack-oriented, there is a lot of talent that we have to be able to exploit even when there is pressure at the end like in this case. We were able to exploit our offense, however, we have to be smarter on defense because sometimes naive mistakes happen. We will also need it for Sunday because all teams put pressure, I think we have improved this aspect of the game but we will have to do it with even more confidence and habit.”
These are Ivana Dojkic’s words: “I think we did a very good job, we did what the coach asked us to do and what we prepared for the whole week. I think it wasn’t perfect, we made our mistakes in the crucial moment but we will work to avoid making them so that we are not up by 10/15 points and we go back under the pressure, which we are not always so sure how to handle. I think we did a great job, we are 3-0, right now it’s a good start and all that matters. Right now we need to build from this. Obviously we always have goals, but we are beginners in the EuroLeague since it’s just our second season, but of course why not wish for the playoffs? I think we should take everything step by step and see how the season is going to go. I always dream of the highest possible goal to reach, as a team we are very focused and humble, we absolutely don’t think that now can rest. We just want to build from this point, it’s good but if we don’t continue like this it doesn’t mean nothing. Of course for us the EuroLeague is very important, but the Italian League is also very competitive and physical. Every year it gets better, there is no easy game since we have less time to rest and it is going to be tough for us. We are going to prepare good and we are going to be focused on our way to get another win.”
Francesca Pasa also spoke to the postgame microphones: “It was important to attack the opponents on the counterattack, they are very aggressive and are a very good team. In the end I personally did what the coach asked and what I do best. I think we played very well as a team and followed the game plan, making few mistakes and I think that was the key to the game. We didn’t finish the game very well, we relaxed a little too early and we can’t afford that, today it went well for us but it won’t always be like that. On the positive side overall during each practice we are adding something more and that eventually shows, we have to keep doing what we are doing.”
