Bologna –
After the game against Monaco, Coach Sergio Scariolo on the press conference:
“First of all I congratulate Monaco who proved once again to be a top team. Thanks also to the fans for the fantastic atmosphere they were able to create and gave us a great hand. It was great to be back in the Euroleague even though we learned a lesson about the level of physicality required in this competition. It will be important to learn from our mistakes soon, even though so many were in their first experience, to work on them and grow. There are also things I save, such as the first quarter and the attitude in the last quarter, as opposed to a bad third quarter. They were super athletic and we missed a lot of shots from beyond the arc, although many were open, and that was a factor that took away a lot of our points. Milos is better and getting back into condition. We could have used Teodosic and Shengelia, but I am sure they will add experience when they return. As for Jaiteh, he still has to find his best condition on both sides of the court. When he finds it, we will no longer be obliged to thin him out and he will show his full value. Monaco? I was expecting one of the best teams and those who know the Euroleague know what it is like to play against these realities. I personally imagined a tough impact and we are still finding the right amalgam between all the components. We are not full of individualities accustomed to dominating these competitions, but we are a group accustomed to share the ball: we have to be tough and compact because we don’t have a Mike James on duty, as our strength is the collective.”
