Three seasons have now passed since Virtus Segafredo Bologna decided to enter the world of women’s basketball, quickly becoming one of the most important realities on a national and European level. Historic milestones have been reached over the years, such as the first Italian Cup final and the first Scudetto final played in front of a Paladozza full of Virtus fans.
The 22/23 season has just begun a few weeks ago and will already have to reckon with history: on Wednesday, November 2, Virtus Segafredo will make its debut in Europe’s top championship, the FIBA Euroleague, an expression of the best continental women’s basketball.
Thanks in part to Mayor Matteo Lepore, and Sports Councillor Roberta Li Calzi, whose support has made it possible to play the home games in the Piazza Azzarita facility, Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has made access to all Regular Season Championship and Euroleague games free of charge. We hope that our fans and the many basketball enthusiasts will come to support the girls and that, thanks to their support, Bologna can confirm that it is the epicenter of Italian women’s basketball.
