Bologna, July 24 –
The tricolor troop, it is known, is a seductive and even robust project. Segafredo adds another important piece to the group, Bruno Mascolo, who is ready (class of 1996) for the big jump and who has been orbiting for years at the top of the main league from those backyards of Castellamare di Stabia.
After a full season averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 assists in 24 minutes, he will continue his journey to Bologna, following the footsteps of a path that began at the age of 15 when he first moved to Turin, a not easy choice in which his family also played a fundamental role, always present and ready to support him in every challenge, including the university one in the unprecedented slalom between competitions and exams at the Faculty of Dentistry.
A playmaker of great physical impact, he is a lover of challenges, such as the one he took two seasons ago in his Serie A debut with Tortona, which at first seemed like the classic slaughter to be endured but in the backstretch ended with a wise and impetuous sprint to the Scudetto semifinals right against Virtus Segafredo. Mascolo arrives to a team that is ready to welcome him inside a collection of men with renewed hierarchies that will chart his path. He joined the national team on Nov. 10, 2021, becoming the first Neapolitan to do so in 37 years. His experiences also include the 2019 3×3 World Cup, which finished among the top eight, an important moment of technical growth in terms of speed of readings and decisions to be made on the field, which contributed over time to improve his style of play. His grit, on the other hand, which he has always had, is a trait that Coach Scariolo will ask him to have on the parquet in the service of a team that as an opponent he has always challenged and will now ask him for energy and character.
