Bologna –
Waiting to find out the date for the rematch against Venice, Virtus is getting ready to face Akronos Moncalieri, the penultimate rematch for the Black Vs. At the Segafredo Arena comes the penultimate team in the class that, after the victory against Sassari in the final part of February, has racked up four defeats of which the ones that weigh most are certainly those against Faenza and Empoli, being direct matches.
Chronic difficulty in finding the way to the basket, with the worst attack in the league (56.6 points scored on average) as demonstrated by the few players in double figures at its disposal: in fact, the Brazilian veteran, in her first year in Europe, Paixao (12.1 average in 30.6 minutes on the court) and Miletic (10.8 points in 31.7 minutes on the court) are not enough to produce the amount of points needed to bring home the games. In addition, with the departure of Williams (8.8 average for her) Moncalieri has lost an important point guard and it was inevitable to intervene on the market, perhaps a little late, by signing Julie Vanloo, Belgian, ex Ragusa (16-’17 season). In her first appearance, she scored 24 points in 39 minutes shooting with 100% from three points, 6/6, and 50% overall, also adding 2 assists and 3 rebounds, despite the loss against Campobasso.
The key to exploit, once again, will be the quality of Turner, who will certainly have a rather physical clash with Ruzickova (6.5 points on average), but is certainly endowed with more quality than Akronos’ long shot. The long distance shot will also be decisive, Tassinari, Zandalsini, Dojkic and Barberis can raise their hands, because there is a ten point difference between Virtus’ percentages and those of Moncalieri, who struggle to find the continuity needed to be dangerous.
