Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has reached a multi-year agreement with Derrick Alston Jr.
Derrick Alston’s first statements as a new virtussino: “I am pleased and honored to join the Virtus family. I have already heard a lot about the city, the basketball culture of Bologna and of course the passion of the fans at every single game. I can’t wait to start working, representing this historic club and trying to do something special. See you soon and of course Forza Virtus!”
Statements by General Manager Paolo Ronci: “Derrick was one of the first players selected together with Coach Ivanovic for the new season. He comes to Virtus after an excellent season in an extremely competitive league like the ACB, where he showed his technical and athletic qualities, ready to measure himself in new challenges, in Italy and in Euroleague.”
A 1997 Huston native winger and son of the art, Derrick Alston last season wore the Manresa jersey having a starring year in both Liga ACB and the Basketball Champions League. In the Spanish league he ended his season with 17 points and over 4 rebounds per game on average, figures that earned him inclusion in the best Liga ACB quintet. An absolute protagonist in the BCL as well: included in the second best quintet in the competition, Alston Jr ended the European season with an average of almost 18 points, shooting 41% from the three-point arc.
