Bologna, Jenuary 28 –
Virtus Bologna enthusiastically celebrates the return of One Team, Euroleague Basketball’s social responsibility programme, with the One Team Games taking centre stage in the EuroLeague and EuroCup from 26 to 30 January 2025. Organised between Round 21 and 22 of the EuroLeague and Round 15 and 16 of the EuroCup, the One Team Games shine a spotlight on the communities of the 38 clubs and the hundreds of participants at risk of economic and social exclusion across Europe.
The theme of this year’s 2026 edition of One Team is “The Power of a Team”. The aim is to focus on teamwork and the values it brings: collaboration, respect and a sense of belonging. Through this initiative, basketball becomes an important tool for growth for individuals and the community. For this reason, yesterday, Tuesday 27 January 2025, was a day dedicated to sport and community at the Palestra Porelli, given the important event on the occasion of the One Team session. Virtus’ partner for this edition of One Team is 24Bottles, the Italian design brand with the aim of reducing the impact of disposable plastic bottles on the planet.
Once again this year, the project sees Virtus Bologna collaborating with ASD Pallacanestro Castel San Pietro Terme. This edition of the project also involves children and young people in activities at school and continues with afternoon sessions at the gym, aimed at promoting learning and dialogue through the sport of basketball. The one-hour session was attended by the young people accompanied by their families, who were able to watch the activities from the stands. Thanks to the support of volunteers from Virtus Bologna and its social partner, the training session provided a valuable opportunity to convey the fundamental values that One Team aims to highlight. The activities alternated between games to develop technical skills and discussions on how to apply what is learned on the court to everyday life.
A special moment was provided by the presence of this year’s ambassador, Daniel Hackett, who showed great enthusiasm for the initiative. At the end of the session, our vice-captain shared his thoughts on the exercises with the children, responding passionately to their questions. There were also moments of celebration: photos, autographs and interactions with those present enriched the day, leaving an indelible memory for all participants.
The One Team Games week continues for Dusko Ivanovic’s Bianconeri, who are playing in the 22nd round of the Euroleague against AS Monaco. Before the game, children involved in the Monegasque project will take part in special activities aimed at raising awareness of the project’s impact on local and international communities.
