Bologna –
Interviewed at the Media Day before the LBA Finals UnipolSai 2024, Achille Polonara presented the challenge that will be played starting Thursday against EA7 Emporio Armani Milano: “We know very well that it will be a very complicated series. We have a small advantage: we will play the first two games in front of our audience, but that does not take away from the fact that it will be a very tough series. We will have to take the field from the first minute of Game 1 because every game is crucial for us. We have to restart from our fourth game with Venice.”
What is one player Achilles would take away from Olimpia? “In every one of their matches there is a different protagonist and right now it is the Italians who are making an important contribution. I think Melli is a key player on which the whole team revolves. There is not a big difference between us and them, and I think in the end the strength of always staying there with the head will make the difference.”
Polonara has won national titles in Spain, Turkey and Lithuania but still lacks the Italian Scudetto: “I’m also here for that. Winning would mean closing in the best way a season that had not started well for me because of my health problem. Now things have taken the right turn and I believe there are the conditions to be able to take what I am missing.”
