Bologna, April 10 –
The LBA Awards presented by UnipolSai, the Lega Basket Serie A awards dedicated to the protagonists of the regular season of Serie A UnipolSai 2023-2024, are back again this year. An edition full of novelties, one above all: for the first time all professional players of the top league will participate in the voting and not only the captains as in previous editions. In addition, this year the list of candidates for the MVP award will rise to 10 contenders, with the aim of forming a special Top Ten of the best performing players of this season.
Voting will be divided into two periods: in the first phase, a specialized panel consisting of media and community; players from the 16 Serie A clubs; the respective head coaches and an executive from each team will be called to vote. The votes in this first phase will lead to the names of the candidates in contention.
In this first phase, preferences will also be expressed for two awards included as of this edition: the LBA Referee Of The Year award, which will be given to the best referee of the 2023 – 24 regular season, and the LBA Executive Of The Year award, which will be given to the best executive.
In the second phase from May 7 to 12, the fans will come into play, who, after the votes cast by insiders, will be able to vote for the candidates for the award: these votes will be averaged with those of the first phase.

Then, on May 14, the placings from 10th to 4th for the MVP award and the names of the players who will make up the podium, indicated in random order, will be revealed before the big announcement scheduled for May 15, when the winners of all the other awards will also be revealed.
As already announced in recent weeks, among the novelties of this edition is LBA’s choice to name three awards after legends of our basketball as a sign of recognition of the great contribution they have made to the development of Italian basketball.
These are the awards for “MVP” of the Regular Season” dedicated to Dino Meneghin “Coach of the Year” dedicated to Sandro Gamba along with the novelty of the award for “Top Scorer of the Regular Season” dedicated to Antonello Riva, the best scorer of all time in the history of the Italian league.
