At the end of the game against Asvel, valid for the fifth round of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season, these were the words of coach Banchi: “We are very happy with another away win with a very consistent performance, managing the emergency from the beginning with our long players struggling with fouls, trying to keep the line always stable in front of such a physical and athletic team that wanted to show tonight. We responded well and so it is good to see that the team showed the same level of energy, aggressiveness and desire despite the fact that we were facing a team that changed coaches only two days ago and really wanted to get its first win this season. We were very well prepared mentally to play this kind of game, and I am also very proud of the way we played solidly and accurately in the last minutes at the most difficult time. When Asvel scored unbelievable triples to stay in the game, we responded each time with great character, and that’s what makes me most proud of the performance and the win.”
On Cordinier’s performance today: “I think his performance today is more or less in the same direction he has shown since the beginning of the season. We have a lot of confidence in this guy because of his work ethic, because of his attitude, because of his willingness to show every day a desire to improve, to reach the next level. I am very happy to work with him and I am very happy that in this first part of the Euroleague, especially playing in France in both of our away games, he has had such solid performances. We will see if he will be able to repeat the same thing when we go somewhere else, because unfortunately there are only two French teams in the Euroleague, just to put some pressure on him. The guy has started the season well and we hope to give him all the tools and chances to show his potential.”
