These are Daniel Hackett’s words at the end of the game to Discovery’s microphones: “If we hadn’t had game 7 in our hearts, we wouldn’t have played this game in front of these great fans. We deserved it, now it will be an unpredictable race. We say goodbye to Weems, flag, exemplary player and great teammate, we wanted to win for him too. But there are also the others, those out as well as Belinelli, Teodosic and Shengelia. We have nothing to lose, we will try, but we will have to control rebounds and try to impose our rhythm, as we do at home, and play a physical game hoping that we will be allowed to do that, losing few balls. We have physiotherapists who are working hard, but by now the legs are going on their own and what is important is to be mentally ready, so I would like to give the MVP to everyone for how they played, in an 80-game season and so many injuries.
Now let’s try to put the icing on the cake because it’s a question of mental strength: we are like two boxers giving it to each other, both of us are staggering but tonight we had more. We deserve to go there and play for it.”
