These are the words of coach Giampiero Ticchi: “We started very well playing our basketball, with good percentages and putting many of our players in rhythm. In the second quarter Venice disrupted our passing lines, but we missed some easy baskets that would have allowed us to end the quarter with a larger and deserved lead.
In the third quarter we were not to defend in the best way the especially from three which is one of their characteristics: if your opponents shoot almost with 60% and us with 30% then it is difficult. Credit to Venice for a very intense game.
There was a moment when we lost a little bit of confidence and very big teams manage to do those little things necessary to win and to us that didn’t happen today. We didn’t manage to play in the open court which is our main characteristic and if you concede even too many baskets to the opponents you start to worry and you get disunited.
Nervousness? I think they blocked our game and scored too many baskets from three: if you rush the plays then the quality suffers.”
