LBF, Round 25 | Statements of the protagonists

Sassari –

These are coach Ticchi’s post-game statements: “We brought home a very important, beautiful and hard-fought game: this is the second time we managed to win a match that did not start in the best way. This means on the one hand that surely we have to grow qualitatively during the arc of the game, while on the other hand fortunately it means that we have the right mentality, of those who are able to suffer and have the will to win. We had a brilliant start, but we knew that Sassari has a lot of quality in its players and carried by the crowd would give us a hard time. From the last minute of the first part we had a 32-7 partial and this is unacceptable if we want to be among the best.
We knew that this game was also important for Sassari for the standings and I wish them the best for the rest of the season because they really held the court well today. Now we have one more game left and we want to keep first place.
The game plan? We set out to prevent them from finding rhythm in offensive solutions, without going up and down running up and down the court. On pick’n’rolls we made systematic changes on defense and I think that was the key to the match.”

Cheyenne Parker, MVP of the match, commented on his own performance this way: “We started slow leaving Sassari to find rhythm and without attacking in the best way: in the last quarter we put in the defense that we had lacked earlier adding also a lot of physicality which is a strong point of ours.
In addition to the win we wanted to gain the knowledge that we have the right mentality that we can also carry into the playoffs where we have important games ahead of us.”
