The first trophy in the history of the Virtus Segafredo Bologna women’s team has arrived. After a little less than three years from the birth of the women’s team, the LBF Italian Cup 2022 gave Segafredo a second place.
In San Martino di Lupari, last weekend, the Final Eight of the Techfind Coppa Italia of the Women’s Basketball League took place: Virtus, before the final, got the better of Campobasso in the quarters and of Venice in the semifinals. Two victories that allowed coach Lino Lardo’s team to get to the final, played openly against Schio (first in the league and still unbeaten). Segafredo, after a first half closed on -12, managed to recover the disadvantage, until it reached the 77th tie at 2′ from the final siren. Virtus’ tiredness and the greater experience of the Schio team, however, got the better of them in the final minutes of the game. And so the second place arrived for the bianconere team, besides the award to Ivana Dojkic as best scorer and to Brianna Turner as best rebounder of the competition. A starting point for captain Tassinari and her teammates who will now have a final season to live up to.
