Varese –
Coach Scariolo spoke at the press conference after the game vs Varese: “It was certainly an exciting game, one of those that keeps the crowd engaged until the end. Two teams that fought to the limit, with many absences. Varese is confident and in rhythm, we could see they were coming from three consecutive wins. We had a good opening 15′, then a serious blackout in the last 5′ of the second quarter. Then we started well coming out of the locker room: we made some adjustments but above all some players played with pride. We were a bit exposed in some roles but we held well in defense against Beane and Keene, we controlled rebounds against the best team in offensive rebounding. In the end some mistakes, some naive fouls by those whose age is what it is, with little experience. I give credit to our players for holding well in defense against the opponent’s outside players and for always being in front of the ball. On offense, we had good ball circulation, but then in some moments we got caught up in the rush to attack the area. We are missing our main game generators so we have to be a little more patient, even if it’s not really in our philosophy.”
