Ante Žižić’s statements during the official presentation to the media and press.
On the debut in front of a sold-out Arena: “It was fantastic, I couldn’t ask for better for my first game. I was very impressed, the fans were fantastic, when you have this kind of fans it’s like having 6 players on the field, cheering you on and giving you so much energy. I am very happy to play in a team with amazing fans like Virtus.”
On his characteristics and those of the other long players on the team: “They are all guys with unique characteristics, with a lot of talent and experience. We all have something different that we can give to the team.”
On Bologna and Virtus: “Before signing for Virtus I had already been to Bologna three other times. I played against Virtus in the Euroleague twice and when I was a kid I participated in a youth tournament here. I don’t know the city very well because I always stopped for a few hours to play, but I know Virtus very well, a historical club from which great names have passed. I am really happy to play for this team and the support of our fans.”
On his arrival and signing: “The process took one night, I learned about it a few hours before signing the contract. I had a game on December 30 and immediately after that I talked to my agent about this opportunity. The last few days for me have been very challenging and particular, I’m trying to settle in but I’m very happy to be part of this team and this company.”
On Dunston and Polonara: “I talked to them only the morning after signing the contract because everything was very quick. They welcomed me in a great way, I played with both of them last season at Efes and we bonded a lot, they are two great guys.”
On Virtus’ start to the season: “I think few people expected such a start to the season from Virtus, but the guys and staff have proved everyone wrong. They have done a great job, they have shown that they are a really tough opponent especially on their home court. Looking at it from the outside, you can see that the team has great chemistry and great leadership.”
On his role in Virtus: “Wherever I go my role remains similar. I want to fit in; the guys have been playing together since the beginning of the season and already have very good chemistry. I would like to help them in any way I can, doing what my coach asks of me.”
On his goals for the season: “To win everything we can win.”
