Silver medal at the under-17 world championships for the young man from Virtus Bologna Matteo Accorsi, the second since he got the same medal at the under-16 European Championships a year ago.
On his return to Porelli, the young Bologna point – guard was also featured on the microphones of Nettuno Bologna Uno, the club’s official radio: “We suffered in the first two games, partly because of anxiety and partly because at the beginning of such an important competition there is always some tension. Going forward, also aided by the day off, we had time to reflect, compare with each other and realized how important teamwork and collaboration was. This realization gave us the continuity we needed, especially from the round of 16 onward. Playing in front of 5,000 fans, all very warm and loud is definitely a snapshot that I will carry with me. However, if I have to choose one I say playing against the U.S. National Team full of NBA prospects, being able to confront that athleticism and technique pushed me to work a lot harder. H0 learned so many things including the different styles of play such as Australia’s fast-paced, U.S. physicality, Turkish energy, I definitely feel enriched and want to treasure it for the future.”
