Bologna, September 25 –
Saliou Niang was presented to the press at the Savoia Hotel.
“I am very happy to be here. Playing in the Euroleague has been one of my dreams since I was a child, and I can’t wait to get started. It was my goal, and doing it with Virtus makes me even happier. I am ready to continue my growth, and I want to do it here at Virtus. At the European Championships, I felt a lot of closeness and support. It was a great experience that made me better and even more excited to start this new adventure.”
My strengths and weaknesses? “I feel like I’m improving. I definitely feel more relaxed and at ease when I’m on the court now. When that happens, things go better. The fundamentals always need to be improved, shooting is definitely something I need to work on, but I am aware of that and I will do so.”
My Virtus teammates on the national team? “We have spent a lot of time together, they have told me a lot about the Virtus environment and how they work. They are fantastic teammates, they have helped me a lot to integrate into the national team and now they are doing the same at Virtus. I’m very happy to be on the team with them. Da Pozzecco and Ivanovic? They are different coaches, switching between them helps a lot, you prepare for everything. I’m very happy to play for Coach Ivanovic and I wish Pozzecco all the best for his career.”
First impressions? ‘Virtus has a huge fan base. I think any player would want to have supporters like that. I can’t wait to get started, to take to the court at the Paladozza for the Virtus fans.’
