Bologna, Sept. 28 –
Working his way back from the injury he suffered with the Serbian national team during the final of last World Cup, Ognjen Dobric introduced himself to Virtus: “When I heard that Virtus was interested I was overjoyed, because I know what kind of club it is and I know the city, I love Italy and Bologna, the people, the culture and everything about Italy and Bologna. I was very happy to accept the challenge and I am happy to be here. For a club like this the goal is to win trophies. I would like to win as many as possible here, we have already won the first one and I am very happy. We have a lot to do during the season, especially to compete in the Euroleague, I think we can fight against anyone and I hope we can reach the playoff zone.”
Dobric has already tasted the support of the fans: “I already feel the love of the people in Bologna, of all the fans, I want to thank them for that. I hope I can show them what they want to see on the field, I will give my 100 percent in every game and I hope it can be enough to win. In these early days it is going great. The guys have welcomed me from day one, they are great as people too, as players everyone knows they are top notch. As I said before I feel so much love around me, from the fans, the staff, the players and all the people around the club. I am happy to be here.”
The “cobra,” then, is almost ready to take the field, “The fans call me ‘cobra.’ I was born in Croatia and my hometown is Knin, so they call me ‘the cobra of Knin.’ I don’t know exactly why, but it started that way.”
