Bologna, September 19 –
Abramo Canka, Virtus’ new number 22, was presented to the press today.
What kind of player is returning to Europe? ‘I had a great experience abroad, with different coaches and different cultures, and I learned a lot. When a kid who has always dreamed of playing basketball in Italy gets a call from Virtus, it’s an honour, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I accepted immediately.’
‘I’m in a strong team with lots of players, and despite our average age, I can measure myself against many experienced players such as Daniel, for example. The other day, I told him that when he was in Siena, I went to see one of his games with the mini-basketball team, and I have a photo with him. It’s an honour to play with players like him, like Vildoza, like Edwards and many others.’
Goals? ‘I don’t have any expectations, I don’t want to think about who knows what, I just want to make sure that every second I’m on the pitch I give my all, in training and in matches, bringing energy every day. So far, the pre-season has been positive, despite the absence of some teammates. Now that we’re almost at full strength, we’re pushing hard and trying to up the tempo.’
