Bologna, June 30 –
Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with Kyle Weems for a contract renewal.
Weems: “My family and I are very excited! I thank the ownership and the club. We had a great time in Bologna and it’s an honour to be able to spend two more years with this club and play for this wonderful fans. I can’t wait to start the season, to meet Coach Scariolo, who I’ve seen coach the Spanish national team for a long time, the Staff, and to fight together with my teammates.”
The words of General Manager, Paolo Ronci: “After an important win, new feelings must be perceived. From the pride of being Champions with this jersey you have to jump immediately to the ambition to try again, to win again. On the evening of the Championship day, Kyle spoke to us about Virtus, its fans and new challenges together. A few words and very concrete. On behalf of Virtus Segafredo, I express my satisfaction for the contract renewal until June 30, 2023.”
The Kansas forward will be in black and white for two more seasons. Arrived at Virtus in the summer of 2019, Kyle has been one of the absolute stars of Virtus Segafredo Bologna: 10.2 points average in two LBA seasons, with 60.1% from two-point, 39.4% from three and 83.7% at the free-throw line. In particular, in the playoffs that brought Virtus their 16th championship, Weems was a decisive factor in the final series against Milano: 15.7 points on average in the four games of the final act for the black and white forward, with 23 points and 10 rebounds in game 3 that earned him the MVP crown from fans and insiders.
Now Weems is ready to continue defending black and white colors and fighting for the Virtus jersey.
