Bologna, July 24 –
Mouhammadou Jaiteh will be in the black and white team for the next two seasons and he arrives in Bologna with a precise goal: to increase the forward department with muscles, centimeters, athleticism and talent.
The club had been following him for some time and this allowed them to beat the competition for a player who represents an addition for Virtus’ present but also for the future. In the next two seasons, in fact, Jaiteh will have the concrete possibility to continue his improvements taking advantage of coach Scariolo’s technical guidance and of the experience and talent of one of his teammates, Ekpe Udoh. Mouhammadou will also be able to count on his “old” teammate at Nanterre, Kyle Weems, enthusiastic about finding the Frenchman in the locker room.
Eyes have been on him since Jaiteh arrived in Italy for the first time wearing the Torino jersey. From then on, the long player born in 1994 began his exponential growth upwards, arriving to play on other European stages such as the Russian and Turkish championships.
Particularly in the past season, the Frenchman has left his mark: with the Gaziantep jersey he closed the championship with an average of 16 points and 11 rebounds, going 16 times in double-double in 28 games, like against Turk Telekom, with 22 points and 18 rebounds, best double-double of the season. In the regular season, in the four games, between round-trip, against Euroleague teams, Efes and Fenerbahce, he finished with an average of 18.2 points and almost 12 rebounds per game. Gaziantep was defeated by Efes in the playoffs but despite that, Jaiteh confirmed his numbers even in the post season: 26+7 in game 1 and 25+10 in game 2 against the Turkish champion team as well as the winner of the Euroleague 2020/2021.
